Marcella Morgese is a Maryland based sculptor working in steel. She uses mostly found steel and searches out farms, woods, scrap yards, and old homesteads to gather the elements for her work. She forms her shapes by bending the steel cold and by forging it. Marcella uses both a gas forge and an oxy-acetylene welding system to create her sculptures.
She generally works on the wall, but at times creates free standing floor pieces.
Marcella worked for years as a papermaker creating both two dimensional and three dimensional mixed media wall sculptures. Her background in papermaking has had a strong influence on how she incorporates textures and subtle colors into her pieces.
Marcella’s work can be found in both corporate and private collections.
